Abstract

The development of online games, which have given rise to microtransaction systems, is one of the causes of the development of consumer behavior among teenage online game players. It is very easy for teenagers to access online games, one of which is the popular online game Mobile Legend: Bang-bang. This research aims to determine Microtransactions on the Game Addiction behavior of Mobile Legend: Bang-bang game players in Malang City. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study type. The data collection method uses interviews and documentation. The characteristics of the subjects in this research are teenage players of the Mobile Legend game who carry out microtransactions in purchasing virtual goods with a minimum transaction of fifty thousand rupiah to five hundred thousand rupiah and experience an increase in the duration of playing the game to more than five hours. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling technique. The research results show the impact of microtransactions on game addiction behavior, namely decreased health conditions, waste, stealing and lying behavior. And achieve achievements by participating in mobile legend game tournaments. Purchasing virtual items is done to make an investment to make a profit. The investment results will be used to support the subject's main goal, namely becoming an esports athlete.
