Abstract

Key Word: learning, guided discovery, quality learning. This research was aimed to know: (1) step of discovery guided learning in the SMP Muhammadiyah 06 Dau Malang on the Equation of Straight Line item VIII B class on school year 2009/2010, and (2) improvement of the quality learning in the SMP Muhammadiyah 06 Dau Malang. This research using qualitative design and employed a classroom action. Research in which the data resources were selected VIII B class in the SMP Muhammadiyah 06 Dau Malang an amounting 38 students. It was conducted on February 2010 in two steps, namely: Pre-action step and action step. The action steps were conducted in one cycles which consisted of two meetings. The result of research was show that discovery guided learning model in the SMP Muhammadiyah 06 Dau Malang on VIII B classroom conducted in two step, (1) Pre- Instructional step which included presenting of the objective learning, presenting of subject mainly, and brainstorming of the students’ background knowledge, (2) Instructional step, teacher divide students in learning group which member to 3-5 students, giving spread sheet for every students, students will be discussing the spread sheet whit guided discovery learning model. As for step of guided discovery learning model, namely: giving problem, making prediction, checking prediction with giving problem practice. The result learning of student during execution of guided discovery learning model, namely. Average of value before action or pretest is 47, 02 and only 4 students was complete from SKM 65. After action conducted by cycle I average value is 70 and 28 students was complete from SKM 70. Its meaning, quality learning with comparing average value on the equation of straight line item with guided discovery learning model was fulfilled criteria.
