The research based on the ability to write poetry of students grade X SMA I Zaha Senior High School of Genggong Probolinggo which was low. Observation result in SMA I Zaha Senior High School of Genggong Probolinggo showed that students’ understanding in poetry writing material was still low. The problem was how to do learning by applying STAD learning model to increase poetry writing ability in students of grade X SMA I Zaha Senior High School of Genggong Probolinggo in pre-writing, writing, and post-writing. The research aimed to increase the students of grade X SMA I Zaha Senior High School of Genggong Probolinggo in writing poetry using STAD Learning model. The research was done using qualitative approach. Design applied was class action. The research was done in grade X SMA I Zaha Senior High School of Genggong Probolinggo while the subject was students of grade X SMA I Zaha Senior High School of Genggong Probolinggo consisted of 19 students and also Indonesia language and literature teacher. Research data consisted of teacher’s and student’s behavior also student’s grade in poetry writing lesson using STAD model learning application. Data collected was analyzed using qualitative and quantitative method to find out the result of student’s poetry writing ability Learning using STAD model could increase students’ ability in writing poetry, it could be seen from students’ achievement percentage in individual. In cycle I, there found 72,94% percentage with good qualification, while in students’ completeness in group. In cycle I, there found 79% percentage. Cycle II 85.05% percentage, student’s ability in poetry writing was well, while student’s achievement in group found 92.25% percentage with excellent qualification. Study by using model study of STAD, can improve ability write poem, that thing earn to be seen in presentase efficacy of student individually. At cycle 1 phase of pre writen with presentase 69,21 %, with kualifikasi enough, while writing phase 71,41% with good kualifikasi, and phase of pasca writen obtained by presentase 72,94 % with good kualifikasi, at cycle 2 study by using study of STAD, can mount ability write poem, that thing earn to be seen at phase of prapenulisan with presentase 75,26% with good kualifikasi, at writing phase with presentase 78, 73% with good kualifikasi, and at tahappascapenulisan with presentase 85,05% with kulifikasi very good while in presentase efficacy of student grouply at cycle 1 obtained by presentase 79 % with good kualifikasi. in presentation efficacy of student grouply at cycle 2 obtained presentase 92,25 % with kualifikasi very good.
