In teaching and learning process teachers can use textbook to teach their students. Textbook has important rule in teaching and learning because it gives common information sources. Based on the explanation above the researcher interest to analyzing the teaching learning activities of “Learning by Doing” English textbook for sixth year students published by Gravindo Media Pratama. In detail this study want to investigated (1) the teaching activities in reading on Learning by Doing English textbook (2) the teaching activities in listening on Learning by Doing English textbook (3) the teaching activities in speaking on Learning by Doing English textbook (4) the teaching activities in writing on Learning by Doing English textbook (5) the skill that has the most variety of activity (6) the skill that has the fewest variety of activity. In analizing the textbook, the researcher used a descriptive research design, source data used object of study, the instrument of the research is the writer herself, to collect the data the reasearcher used documentation from “Learning by Doing” English textbook published by Gravindo Media Pratama. The findings of the research show that the activity of reading are: listening and reading, reading and practicing, choosing the correct answer, reading a story, write true or false question, completing the sentence based on text, studying the shape, reading and colouring, answering the question using graph, filling the table, measurement with multiplication, reading the direction and instruction, filling the blanks based on the picture, answering the questions based on text. Activities of listening consist of : listening and repeating, answering the question based on the dialog, listening and doing the instruction, answering the question and completing the sentence based on text. The activities of speaking consist of: practicing the dialog, answering the question based on the dialog, make and practicing dialog based on the picture, let’s chant, sins a song, doing the problem and saying them, reciting the poem, retell the story by using words in the table. The activities of Writing consist of: writing the activities based on the picture, writing sentence about the picture, writing what the picture do by answering then question, writing the dialog by using the words in the box, completing the sentence based on the picture, finishing the sentence, looking and writing, arranging the sentence, completing the sentence with the words in the box. The most varieties of English skills is reading, and the fewest varieties is listening.
