Abstract

Keywords: Community Relations Strategy Community Relations Unit is one of the units that are under the External Relations Department PT. NNT which handles relations activities with the communities around the mine. In carrying out public relations activities, Community Relations Unit PT. NNT using the steps in the strategy of doing the activity. Community Relations Strategy is a process of strategic management used by the Community Relations Unit PT. NNT in relieving the negative response of society against all forms of company policy. Many problems that arise along with the mining operation of PT. NNT make Community Relations Unit PT. NNT requires the right strategy in conducting community relations activities around the circumference of the mine. From there, researchers interested in knowing how the strategy of Community Relations in relieving the negative response of society. Community Relations Strategy is an integrated planning undertaken by management in maintaining and developing relationships with communities that are planning an active and sustained for the benefit of both parties, institutions and communities. Strategy undertaken by the Community Relations PT. NNT in relieving the negative response of society do with a planned and sustainable way for the creation of a harmonious relationship between PT. NNT with communities around the mine. Negative response of society is the attitude or behavior and negative reactions from the public on what is presented by a company regarding the company policy. Type and basic research using case study method with the type of descriptive and qualitative approach. This research is conducted at PT. NNT especially on Community Relations Unit which is directly addressing the relationship between the company and the community. The unit of analysis in this research is Community Relations Unit. The number of respondents is determined using the technique of Snow-Ball. Techniques of data collection in this study using observation techniques, interviews, and documentation. Technical analysis of the data used in this study used qualitative data analysis techniques in the form of Induction-Interpretation-Conceptualization. Technical examination of the validity of the data using a triangulation method that is if the information or data derived from such interviews need to be tested with the results of observation and so on. The results showed that the strategy used by the Community Relations Unit PT. NNT in conducting public relations activities by using three-step strategy. First to communicate actively in the village community leaders to build a Public Relations Representative offices in 6 villages around the mine, as well as representative offices in Mataram and Sumbawa Besar. Second, the nature of communication open with all levels of society. The last strategy is to recruit and place the Community Relations officer in the villages around the mine which came from the village in order to facilitate communication and foster understanding of the communities where they work.
