Abstract

OVJ (Opera Van Java) is a sitcom puppet show conceptualized by the model is guided by people with a mastermind group and singer that called as sinden and a gamelan accompaniment. In impressions of Opera Van Java, there are languages that are not part of the dialogue in the script but was created solely by the players. Those languages, among others “Prikitiw..“, “Bercanda itu..“, “Ya’ee..“, “Mas Boy..“, “Benang Merah..“, “Uyyhee..“, “Pak Bambang..“. Frequency of Van Java Opera players say the words, the audience unconsciously influenced little by little to practice these words in daily language. Formulation of the problem in this study is how much influence the level of exposure Van impressions Opera Trans7 against the use of Java in Opera Van Java language by students. The purpose of this study is to determine the size of the effect of exposure Van Java impressions on the use Opera Opera Van Java language by students. Theory used in this research is Cultivation Theory. This theory was used to study the effect of watching television. By using the assumptions of the theory of this cultivation, the audience impressions Opera Van Java hear, learn, understand and apply the languages that are contained in Opera impressions Van Java in the medium of television in everyday conversations. And the second is the theory of imitation (Modeling Theories). This theory saw man as a creature that always develop they affective skills and more emphasis on external orientation in the search for gratification. Pictorial media like television as a mass communication tool displays a variety of models to be imitated by the audience. Based on the above assumptions of the theory of imitation, students mimic Opera Van Java language because the audience thinks it's an easy mode that emulated. This study uses a quantitative approach with survey methods, with the type of explanatory research. The population in this study were students majoring in Communication Sciences University of Muhammadiyah Malang force in 2007 with certain characteristics in accordance with this research. In this research used simple random sampling techniques and sample determined in this study amounted to 72 students. Data collection techniques in this study were questionnaires and documentation. After thorough research, the questionnaire were tested by validity and reliability. Analysis of the data used to prove the hypothesis is to test the correlation coefficient. To determine the level of significance of correlation of X and Y as a whole, then used the test of F Test.
