Abstract

Traffic accidents are one of the negative impact of transportation that the amount and quality always strived to be reduced. Road section Arjosari-Tower is the main route linking Arjosari Terminal and Terminal Tower, resulting in these streets become increasingly crowded with the risk of accidents and dangerous high. The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of traffic accidents that occurred in connection with the main factors to determine the cause of accident and accident-prone locations diruas-Gadang Arjosari road. In the completion stage of this essay is first carried out preliminary surveys on the sites to be studied. Then determined the location of the study, the necessary data is primary data and secondary data obtained from field surveys and related agencies. From the data analyzed accident pattern. The results of this analysis can be determined location of the accident prone, so they can know Characteristics accident that occurred in the study location. Characteristics of road accidents in the study showed that beginning in 2001 until 2003, the number of accidents tends to increase each year with the sharpest increase occurred in 2002 for accident injuries, while the mortality decreased. Umumnyat minor accident rate (42.88%) is quite high, followed by severe classification (38.07%) and severe classification (19.03%). The dominant accident victims were male and aged between 26-35 were victims of accidents. Generally, when the accident happened during rush hour in the morning there are 23 events (10.60%), day there are 18 events (29.8%), and the afternoon there are 22 events (10.13%). Motorbikes are the most dominant vehicle involved in accident (43.99%), followed by a microbus (13.60%), and truck (9.75%). The dominant collision type is the type of hit-and-side (51.11%), followed by a hit-and-back (24.44%), and hit-and-forward (18.22%). The cause of most accidents is the lack of anticipation as many as 16 events (94.11%), did not order an incidence (5.88%). The average vehicle speed maximum occurs at observation post at 41.66 km / h, whereas in reality the field reached 51.58 km / h, this effect on the level of accidents that occur on roads that were examined.
