ABSTRACT Traditional ceremony is a one tradition of Indonesian community that until this time is still conducted by their supporting community. Traditional ceremony means that social activity that involves community member in attempt to achieve particular objective. Religion system in the community, especially in religion system of Java community, among others, is called slametan. Slametan (ceremonial meal) is in the form of meeting together is that more than two people to pray. The praying stated has an objective to ask for safety and grant what they want. Slametan is led by a community figure. One thing that cannot be abandoned from slametan is that ritual offerings (sesaji) that is in the form of traditional food. Along with industrialization and globalization current that bring consequence for social change, so religion system is that slametan also undergoes a shift. But, among the community, there is particular community that still maintains religion systems conducted traditionally and has power and original appeal. This phenomenon appears in religion system, is that slametan cembengan tradition that occurred in past period and conducted around sugar factory in Java Island. With the history of the factory which stand out in longer enough from period before freedom, sugar factory has socio-cultural values that have been tradition and during this time it can keep social orderliness in sugar factory. Slametan cembengan that is initially a ritual ceremony conducted by employee in the sugar factory to ask for safety and better result have changed to be folk party around the factory. This tradition is conducted from a generation to other, which it is believed that it can avoid people from bad effect that is Chinese tradition acculturation. A fact occurred in PT PG Krebet Barn suggests that during this time, the ritual is still conducted when milling season arrived. Based on these fact, it can be formulated a problem is that how the form of cembengan tradition for this time and how its contribution to social orderliness. This research obtains location in PT PG Krebet Barn Bululawang Malang. Population taken is all employees working at PG Krebet with a number of samples of 18 people. A method of taking sample is by using snowball-sampling technique. Technique of collecting data used is interview, observation, and documentation. Whereas a theory used in this research is the theory about Types of Social Action according to Max Weber, Auguste Comte and Levi- Strauss explaining harmonious dependence. Clifford Geertz concerns with religion, culture, and ceremony and Giddens’s theory of “structuralization theory”. Based on result of the research conducted related with cembengan tradition role in creating social orderliness, it can be concluded that the form of the cembengan tradition is that a ritual ceremony conducted by employees in PG to ask for safety and good production output, accompanied by sugar cane procession, planting buffalo head, fair, wayang stage, and bazaar.
