Abstract

Mortar is one component of which has priority use in construction, although not major but the workmanship mortar must be done carefully, especially the comparison and selection of material from the mortar mix. Error in determining the quantity of the materials making up mortar especially the amount of water used and the type of sand used will result in lack of achievement of expected goals and will even damage the properties of mortar in construction, therefore the experiment needs to be done to ensure that materials used and comparison of the quantity of the materials making up mortar will repair and / or change the properties of mortar with a specific purpose in a particular construction. This study aims to determine the influence of water cement factor (FAS) and the type of gradation of sand on the compressive strength of mortar This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Civil Engineering University of Malang. Making mortar cube specimens using 1SM mixture ratio: 2.75 Ps, where each sample plan, amounting to 10 pieces of mortar with a size of 50 mm x 50 mm x 50 mm made from 800 grams of cement and sand with 2200 gram total 280 specimens of mortar. In accordance with the planned creation of independent variable was varied in the type of mortar used sand is sand with a gradation types I, II, III, IV, in addition to water use also varied by using the FAS 0.3, 0.35, 0.4; 0:45; 0.5, 0.55, 0.6. Tests conducted only the compressive strength of mortar. Treatment of samples is done by soaking in water, while the mortar tests performed at the age of 14 and 28 days of treatment, then the compressive strength data for 28 days mainly processed using two-way ANOVA statistical analysis. The results mennjukkan influence FAS increased variation in the ratio 0.3 to 0.6 on a mixture of mortar in the ratio 1 Sm: 2.75 Ps, making the mortar compressive strength decreases in the use of all kinds of gradations of sand. For example in the test mixture containing sand gradation type I with 0.3 FAS obtained an average compressive strength of 28 days amounted to 231 678 to 132 358 kg/cm2 kg/cm2 decline in the use of FAS 0.6. While the effect of usage of different kinds of gradations of sand in the mortar mix with a ratio of 1 Sm: 2.75 Ps, making mix mortar using sand gradation type I produce mortar compressive strength of the most high. For example in the test mixture containing sand gradation type I with 0.3 FAS obtained an average compressive strength of 28 days amounted to 231 678 kg/cm2, while for the mixture of sand gradation type II, III, IV obtained an average compressive strength of 169 476 kg/cm2, 156,016, 114,004 kg/cm2 kg/cm2 at the same value of FAS.
