During the first periode of Ahmadinejad era (2005-2009), Iran’s nuclear development become the major issue in the world politics. This situation was fenomenal because only in 3 years, the UN Security Council has determined 6 Resolutions in case to warned Iran to stop the proliferations. Those Resolutions not only showed the high of international insecurity about Iran’s nuclear but also means that Iran do persistency within it’s nuclear development. This thesis that concern to the persistency of Iran which affected by it’s national security interest was based on the statement of the Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei that: “the nuclear development is a part of Iran’s “passive defense” doctrine which layed on preemptive attack and long-range ballistic missile”. Specifically, this thesis which focusing on the Iran’s national security interest that influenced by the US military threat near the Iran’s border was intervened by the conflict between Iran-US along this 30 years. The hypothesis of this research is build from the causal relations of US military threat around Iran’s borders that has triggered the Iran’s revisionist character to do deterrence strategy in their nuclear. In order to examine this, the writer utilize Balance of Threat theory as the analytical tools to identify the source of threat related with the closer of the threat geographically. Meanwhile, the utilization of the deterrence strategy consept in this research is to describe the strategy of Iran’s nuclear development as the reaction to the threat. Last, the revisionist state explanations will sharpen the analysis of the impetus of Iran-US conflict so then Iran recognize US as the main enemy in their national security. This consept will be use as the intervening variable only.
