Literature is human’s creation that expresses their thoughts, feelings, and ideas through imaginative language that have limitation on written art only. One of written arts is novel. Novel is a literary work which is a long fiction story written in prose that shows character’s sequence of incidents or events may be drawn from real life. Reading novel is very important for us, because it can obtain the deep knowledge and understanding about human being in the world. It also can entertain us and give us pleasure and enjoyment. This study is intended to know the psychological conflict faced by Gillian Forrester and the ways Gillian Forrester overcomes this psychological conflict from the Danielle Steel’s novel “Going Home” This study was descriptive qualitative. The writer collected the data by investigating through the paragraphs, dialogues and analyzing the novel descriptively which is emphasized on the “Gillian Forrester’s Psychological Conflict” as a research object. The object of this study was “Going Home” novel written by Danielle Steel. The result of the research is based on the statement of problems. Gillian Forrester as the protagonist in this novel faces many psychological conflicts with herself, they are: Gillian as a single parent, with her conscience, with her old days, feeling of losing her closed friends. The ways Gillian Forrester overcomes the psychological conflict are Gillian had two ways to solve the problems, such as; she had vacation in some places for relaxation and she tried to forget the problem.
