Abstract

Nursing service in hospital is the main part of health services given to patients. Nursing service quality is most affected by nurses’ effectiveness in giving service on patient, because nurses give high contribution and represent the backbone of service quality in the hospital. The back and forth of nursing service is very depended on the commitment of nurse herself to organization (hospital) to always be responsible morally and professionally. A credit to be nurse and to be admitted as part of an organization is the major. The given believe and opportunity to develop in an organization will grow strong emotional string to trigger internal motivation, thus it will improve the commitment on organization. It will make nurses feel happy in performing her job to give nursing service on patients. There are many factors, which can explain the good or bad of nursing quality. One of them is organization commitment the researcher therefore is interested to study the correlation between organization commitment with nursing service quality. This research is quantitative research with non-experimental design. Nursing service quality is dependent variable and organization commitment as the independent variable. The research subject is nurses of Citra Medika Hospital of Sidoarjo with total subject are 55 nurses using total sampling technique. Data collecting technique uses scale, that is organization commitment and nursing service quality scales. Data analysis method uses product moment correlation technique assisted by SPSS 12.00 for windows software computer program. From data analysis, the obtained result shows that there is very significant positive correlation between organization commitment with nursing service quality in Citra Medika Hospital of Sidoarjo (r = 0.699 and p = 0.000). It means that nurse who has high organization commitment is accompanied by good nursing service quality. It suggested that nursing service quality could be explained from organization commitment of 48.9%, while its remains, 51.1%, can be explained by another untested factors.
