Abstract

Relation between language and literature could be a connection bridge between literature and language discussion. Exploration of two sciences could brought a new paradigm in appreciate literature in novel, but not from the literature itself, but through language approach, which is sociolinguistic. The research aimed to describe: (1) place of story (setting) in “Gadis Pantai” (Beach Girl) novel by Pramoedya Ananta Toer; (2) participants in “Gadis Pantai” (Beach Girl) novel by Pramoedya Ananta Toer; (3) destination (end) in “Gadis Pantai” (Beach Girl) novel by Pramoedya Ananta Toer; (4) act sequences in “Gadis Pantai” (Beach Girl) novel by Pramoedya Ananta Toer; (5) tone (keys) in “Gadis Pantai” (Beach Girl) novel by Pramoedya Ananta Toer ; (6) instrumentalities in “Gadis Pantai” (Beach Girl) novel by Pramoedya Ananta Toer (7) norm in “Gadis Pantai” (Beach Girl) novel by Pramoedya Ananta Toer; (8) genres in “Gadis Pantai” (Beach Girl) novel by Pramoedya Ananta Toer. The research used qualitative descriptive approach. The technique used to describe and interpret written data in in form of story unity in data sources. Data collection technique used by categorization to speaking component which was stated in description. From the analysis done to the conversation in “Gadis Pantai” (Beach Girl) Novel, there concluded: (1) setting in “Gadis Pantai” (Beach Girl) Novel by Pramoedya Ananta Toer told a place showed where the beach girl lived; (2) participant in the novel showed abdi dalem (servant) in the new life of the beach girl. Their existence helped and entertain beach girl when she was sad and alone; (3) Ends in the novel contained information strengthen faith, hope, and wish from the parents of their child’s life; (4) Act sequences in the novel showed a meaning or description which said by Bendoro to his wife; (5) Keys in the novel showed effort for his wife to fit her new life; (6) Instrumentalities about the sarcastic of beach girl’s parent about the life of the child from the hometown; (7) Norms in the novel about rule or normative attitude whether in normative or custom, written or not followed by beach girl as wife of Bendoro; (8) Genre in the novel told about the strength of a mother’s pray and Bendoro’s people to beach girl so that she could accept her life as the wife of a Bendoro.
