Abstract

Human trafficking has a long history in many countries, in this case it continues due to poverty, unequal development processes and low levels of education. In its development, countries around the world have agreed through ratification of rules set by the United Nations to jointly combat human trafficking. As a region dominated by developing countries, ASEAN is an organization of countries in Southeast Asia that has an important role in the global political and economic arena. Various efforts have been made by ASEAN members as independent countries and as part of the membership of regional organizations. This research was conducted to find answers to the problems regarding the efforts made by ASEAN member countries in dealing with human trafficking. The method used is a qualitative method with descriptive and narrative explanations of the phenomena that have occurred regarding human trafficking cases, understanding and the establishment of joint policies for ASEAN member countries. The author uses the International Regime theory given the nature of human trafficking, which always involves two countries and is therefore a transnational crime. In addition, the author chose the concept of multi-track diplomacy because the issue of human trafficking will get an accelerated solution if the handling is not only relied on the role of the state. From the results of the data exposure obtained by the author, the efforts made by Indonesia, as well as each ASEAN member country are a series of concrete actions.
