Abstract

Together with the demand to increase the production of sugar cane, therefore attempts are made by stakeholder related with sugar industry either using intensification or extensification. Meanwhile during the production process within the sugar manufacture has produce solid waste which able to be re-used that is blotong and ashes. From prior studies and experiments, blotong and ashes has contained a lot of nutrients which can be used as basic component of fertilizer to replace inorganic fertilizer. Using biotechnology method, blotong and ashes can be refined into bio-compost organic fertilizer which carried economical value thus able to provide cheap and fine-tested fertilizer. Objective of this experiment are (1) To found out what is the farmers’ attitude toward the beneficial use of blotong fertilizer. (2) To found out socio-economical factors which influence the farmers’ attitude in the experimental site for using blotong fertilizer. Data analysis method to test the first hypothesis that is, farmers’ attitude toward the beneficial use of blotong fertilizer is positive using Fishbein calculation model. Fishbein model is form of an attitude toward particular object which based on trust or perception and knowledge about the particular object. To formulate this relationship mathematically is as follows: To test the second hypothesis which is correlation among social factors (incl. farmers’ age, education, and amount of family responsibility) and economical factors (incl. field width and family income) with farmers’ attitude toward the beneficial use of blotong fertilizer, author used Chi-square (X2) correlation analysis. Mathematically formulated as follows:
