English is international language; it means that it is used for communication among people in the world. Meanwhile, vocabulary is one of the fundamental factors that make it possible for a person to speak language in a communicative way. Thus, vocabulary is an important aspect needed in studying the foreign language. There are some teaching techniques that must be considered by the instructor in teaching English vocabulary. This research aims to know the teaching techniques that are used by the instructor to teach English vocabulary in BLK-LN PT. Asri Cipta Tenaga Karya Singosari and to know the problems commonly faced by the instructor in applying the teaching techniques of English vocabulary in BLK-LN PT. Asri Cipta Tenaga Karya Singosari. This research is descriptive qualitative research design because the researcher wants to present the fact related to the teaching techniques used and the problems commonly faced by the instructor in applying the teaching techniques of English vocabulary. The data of this study are collected by observing the class, give questionnaire and interview the instructor. The subject of this study is an English instructor of BLK-LN PT. Asri Cipta Tenaga Karya Singosari. The result of this research shows that the teaching techniques used by the instructor to teach English vocabulary are visuals, mime and gesture, contrasts and opposites, example of the type, translation, asking others, pronouncing the word, self-defining context, pictures, dramatization, reading and writing the word. The data also shows that the instructor sometimes also use memorization, simple conversation, songs, games, and hearing the word. While, the problems commonly faced by the instructor in applying the teaching techniques of English vocabulary are related to use of the media and pronunciation. It could be seen that the instructor seldom used some media in teaching learning process, and there is no media that could be used by the instructor in teaching English vocabulary related to pronunciation. Finally, the writer suggested that the instructor must be creative in using teaching techniques, creating the teaching media, and choosing the materials that are familiar with the students.
