Abstract

Cement board is made by a board made from a mixture of wood chips and portland cement with or without the other maids. Condition of wood raw material supply is increasingly limited and the price is relatively expensive, so it's time to think about the use of alternative materials as a substitute for wood fiber on the cement board. Observing the water hyacinth in the dry condition, the fleeting resemblance to wood waste, there is the possibility of utilizing these nuisance plants as an alternative to wood materials in the manufacture of cement board. In this study use a water hyacinth material for cement board with the composition variation of tensile strength. The mixture is used there are 6 variations of the mixture with a mixture ratio of water hyacinth: PVAc: Semen is 1:1:1, 1:1:1,5, 1:1:2, 1:1:2,5, 1:1:3 , 1:1:3,5. Each composition was made 11 total specimens with 66 specimens of cement board. Tests conducted only tensile strength of the cement board. And treatment of samples is done by drying the specimens for 14 days. From the results of this study showed that the variation of composition is very influential on tensile strength of cement board that is equal to 84%, where the tensile strength obtained for each composition, respectively - joined the 28.28 kg/cm2 32.44 kg/cm2 38.47 kg/cm2 34.84 kg/cm2 kg/cm2 35.64, and 35.49 kg/cm2. Where the greatest tensile strength gained 38.47 kg/cm2 contained in the composition of 1:1:2 mix. While the non-linear regression estimated the best composition is 1:1:2,24. Self-balanced usage of cement paste with other ingredients, making the cement paste to bind the material perfectly mixed so that all materials be merged. While the excessive use of cement which also must be followed by the amount of water used is also a lot of cement, cement board Cause all the material not binding properly, causing the cement board cracked and brittle.
