Abstract
Background : The Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) program was one of the important indicators in improving public health. Health status was greatly influenced by behavior; the better the behavior, the better the health status. Not implementing PHBS could lead to various health problems, such as acute respiratory infections (ARI), diarrhea, worm infections, eye infections, and skin diseases due to improper handwashing. Additionally, inadequate care of hair, mouth, and nails could cause dandruff, split ends, lice, and fungal infections. According to Riskesdas data (Kemenkes, 2018), in East Java, there was an increase in the prevalence of diarrhea from 4.8% in 2014 to 6.4% in 2018. This showed the importance of clean and healthy living behavior in schools. A survey at SD Muhammadiyah 08 Dau revealed that the School Health Program (UKS) had not yet been established, and there was no training for UKS cadres, along with the poor personal hygiene of the students. Based on this data, the researchers chose to promote health using animated videos because children aged 9-11 years really enjoyed cartoons or animations. Thus, health education would be more varied and could positively influence elementary school students. The selection of educational video material aimed to ensure that health information could be effectively conveyed to children aged 9-11 years.
Research Method : This study used a pre-experimental research design with a one-group pretest-posttest. Data collection in this study used a questionnaire as the instrument. The total population in this study was 95 students, and the sample consisted of 75 students from SD Muhammadiyah 08 Dau, conducted from January to February 2024.
Result : The data analysis technique in this study used the Wilcoxon non-parametric test. Based on the results of the Wilcoxon test, it was found that 67 respondents had better posttest scores than pretest scores, 4 respondents had posttest behavior scores lower than pretest scores, and 4 respondents had the same posttest scores as pretest scores. The significance value in the Wilcoxon test showed 0.000, which means the significance value was less than 0.05, thus the hypothesis in this study was accepted.
Conclusion : Based on the results of the pretest questionnaire, 30.7% of the 75 students fell into the high category, 61.3% into the medium category, and 8% into the low category, making up 100% of the total. According to the Wilcoxon test analysis, the posttest scores were less than the pretest scores. Supporting factors for this study included the highly interactive and easily understandable videos chosen by the researchers, which were suitable for all ages. The researchers used two types of videos: one to explain the overall importance of PHBS to the students, and the other to emphasize the importance of personal hygiene. Facilities and infrastructure used included a screen and an LCD projector to play the animated videos, a sufficiently large room, cooperative respondents.
