Abstract

Keywords: Public Perception, in Radio Broadcast News The mass media, radio is one of the electronic media which has a function like other mass media, including the functions of educating, entertaining, and disseminate information. However, most people use the radio only to find entertainment and leisure only. In fact, compared to other mass media, radio has advantages not possessed by other mass media, one of which is kecepatnnya in disseminating information. In the city of Malang, many emerging private radio stations, one of which is a radio image of Protiga a claim as the main news radio in the city of Malang, who thrusts flagship programs include news bulletins "Citra Malang Raya." Broadcast news "Citra Malang Raya" is a radio dilesatkan stimulus image that stimulates Protiga sense of hearing community, and ultimately can affect thinking and behavior. Therefore, it is not easy to determine their perceptions of broadcast news "Citra Malang Raya." There are several theories that may answer some question the effects of mass communication. For the study, researchers used the theory of the bullet (Bullet Theory), in which the theory says that the media work like a bullet aimed at the target. Wilbur Schramm and Proter (1982) cited DeVito (1997, 522) gives the view that such a target audience, be passive and did not show rejection. as well as a target that does not refuse to be penetrated. In fact, Marshall Mc complaint says, basically every communication message directed at the audience as a target and bombard audiences with all the stimulation of their sensory organs. This study used survey research methods and types of descriptive study using quantitative approach. In this study, the population totaled 296 people. While the sampling technique itself, researchers used a purposive sampling technique, is obtained as many as 25 people who meet the criteria to be used as research samples. For data collection techniques, used questionnaires as the main data collection tool. Data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative analysis. The results of this study shows that people who never listen Blimbing District news "Citra Malang Raya" on the radio Protiga perceive positive image of the message. This is evident: 84% of respondents are interested in broadcast news material "Citra Malang Raya." ; 63% of respondents often listen to news broadcasts "Citra Malang Raya." ; 61.6% of respondents listen to broadcast news "Citra Malang Raya" between 50 to 60 minutes. ; 88% of respondents listen to broadcast news "Citra Malang Raya" to gain knowledge and information. ; 64% of respondents rely solely on broadcast news "Citra Malang Raya" to get the news. ; And 79.2% of respondents met the need for information with the broadcast news "Citra Malang Raya." Positive perception of respondents is given in the theory of the bullet (Bullet Theory) is a radio effect Protiga image that has been leveled stimulus newscast "Citra Malang Raya" to the respondents.
