Abstract

Family is the first social group in human life, where the family is the closest environment to bring up, maturing and this is in the child get an education first. It is not easy for a child to be able to accept the presence of someone in kehidupannya.Meskipun must pass through the adaptation process but still it will take quite a long time whenever there is even still could not accept the presence of someone new in his life. Children who grow up in a harmonious family, in which there is a balance between supervision and affection will cause the child to grow into a healthy person physically and spiritually, so that the child will experience success in the next life. This research is a qualitative study aimed to describe or depict the psychological state of children who reject the presence of a stepfather. The subjects in this study were children who reject the presence of a stepfather. Data collection techniques used in this research is observation, interview and psychological test instrument that is SSCT and Graffis test. Results obtained from this study is that the change in family structure in the presence of a stepfather is not always bring a positive impact. Even with the change is only likely to add and create new problems for the child. And the success or failure of a child in adapting to changes in his life will be determined by the resistance in itself, his view of divorce and the good relations between the two.
