KEPENTINGAN INDONESIA DALAM STRENGTHENING MARITIME COOPERATION DENGAN REPUBLIK RAKYAT TIONGKOK

This study aims to determine Indonesia's interest in cooperating with the People's Republic of China in the maritime sector. As an archipelagic country, Indonesia faces a lot of challenges in its maritime environment. In addition, Indonesia has not been effective in managing its marine resources. Therefore, in order to protect its seas and improve the effectiveness of its marine resources, Indonesia decided to cooperate with other countries. This research will discuss Indonesia's interests related to cooperation with the People's Republic of China. The method used in this research is qualitative, where the data obtained is a combination of primary data (from official reports) and secondary data. This research uses the concept of maritime security as its analytical tool. It was found that Indonesia's interests in cooperating with the People's Republic of China are to maintain maritime security, protect marine resources, and realize the world's maritime axis. Indonesia sees China as an ideal partner in helping Indonesia achieve these interests, especially in the World Maritime Axis which has been Indonesia's vision since 2014. Therefore, Indonesia agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding related to strengthening maritime cooperation with the People's Republic of China.
