RESPON QATAR TERHADAP KAMPANYE LGBTQ+ DI PIALA DUNIA 2022

This study aims to determine the state of Qatar in response to the LGBTQ+ campaign carried out on the National Team by football clubs and supporters who support LGBTQ+ groups at the 2022 World Cup. To find this issue, the author uses a descriptive research method. This research uses qualitative methods with descriptive research types and literature study data collection methods. By using the concept of culture and national identity through foreign policy from Valerie M. Hudson's thoughts, researchers see that Qatar with a majority Muslim community that adheres to sharia law has rules that must follow according to applicable laws such as the prohibition of LGBTQ+. The findings of this study are that Qatar, which adheres to Islamic law, has an attitude of tolerance. Actions in responding to this as a form of foreign policy are supported by the culture and national identity of the Qatari state. Driven by Qatari culture and national identity, it is in Qatar's national interest to provide tolerance to those who launch campaigns for LGBTQ+ people on Qatari soil
