Abstract

These students now in Indonesia, especially in large cities many are menomor-duakan school affairs and learning. Students are now more attracted to things that are purely entertainment. Plus it will demand an increasing graduation standards, accompanied by many students who do not pass the school because of insufficient value. This research is a qualitative descriptive study aimed to describe the factors behind the low motivation to study in high school. The sample used was 3 Baiturrohmah Malang Islamic high school students who have low motivation to learn. To explore the data used test tools and techniques free guided interview, which was intended for the free communication exists but directed that seem more supple and flexible. Of the 3 subjects unknown factors behind the low motivation to learn is: the absence of a strong learning goal, no goals or future plans are clear, he did not know the purpose of learning a lesson, the reward and satisfaction from cheating. Friends do not appreciate the environment of high academic achievement in school, no provision of rewards and punishments are strictly from parents when students excel in studies or when conducting pelanggaran.Lingkungan association offers many forms of recreation. There is no ego involvement in learning and school learning tasks. In addition, less harmonious family situation or does not support the students so motivated to learn and achieve
