Abstract
Self efficacy has a role in the formation of creativity and perseverance of individuals. Students with special needs have limitations that make them experience some difficulties when participating in learning. Difficulties experienced by students with special needs can usually be in the form of difficulty focusing, difficulty completing difficult tasks, and panic easily. This study aims to determine whether the goal setting and self-monitoring methods can increase the self-efficacy of mentally retarded students. This research uses a type of experimental research with a quasi-experimental design, using the Single Subject Research (SSR) approach. The research subjects were students diagnosed with mental retardation with an IQ of 64 diagnosed by a psychologist. The results of this study found that there was an increase in self efficacy possessed by the subject, after the intervention of goal setting and self monitoring. This research is expected to be an additional method to help other students with special needs who have low or lack of self efficacy. The method used can be adjusted again according to the student's ability, so that students do not mind running this method.
